New Voices, New Pathways

The BSO Symposium is about focusing our attention on bringing authentic Black stories to life. It’s evident that Black stories have been untold, mistold, and marginalized. While there are efforts to address this, they often seem minimal compared to the potential for true representation and impactful storytelling. Our goal is to catalyze change.

We believe in starting from a place of strength, celebrating the global influence of Black culture—the “origins of cool.” This Symposium invites decision-makers, broadcasters, streamers, funders, distributors, producers, and creatives in the screen industry to unite. It’s a day for collective ideation on what’s possible, not just locally but globally, learning from one another, sharing resources, co-creating, and finding collaborative opportunities to move us from where we are to where we want to be.

The Symposium will feature keynote interviews, presentations from guests about their aspirations, roundtable discussions, networking opportunities, and special presentations. This enriches our collective endeavor, making it not just a meeting but a milestone event for actionable change.

Change is ambitious, but it won’t happen unless we put our minds to it. Join us in this transformative journey to elevate Black stories to their rightful place in global narratives.
